I have always had a passion for cooking.
My earliest memories were of being surrounded by the aroma
of home cooked food and the laughter of my family. Growing
up in South Jersey, I remember the wonderful meals my
parents prepared using locally grown fresh produce and
seafood from the nearby shore. At my mother’s (and
father’s!) side I learned to roll out homemade biscuits,
bake bread, chop vegetables and select the freshest
groceries available at the local farmers market.
My early culinary career was briefly interrupted by a twenty
year career in film and television production. Being a
filmmaker took me to many interesting places, from tall
ships on the open sea, to nuclear power plant control rooms
to even the White House. Several of the documentaries I
edited received prestigious awards at the American Film
Festival and the International Film and TV Festival of New
York.
My passion for cooking remained strong, however, and in my
spare time I continued to enjoy making and sharing food with
my friends and family. Finally, with a perfectly good career
in full swing, I decided to leave filmmaking and pursue the
culinary arts full time. After graduating at the top of my
class at NCC Culinary Arts program, I found employment in
the kitchens of several fine dining establishments,
including the Lehigh Country Club and the legendary
Cannon’s, featured in Lehigh Valley Magazine and Stuff
Magazine.
My wife Teresa is an emergency room nurse, and with our long
and hectic work schedules we frequently came home too late
and too tired to cook meals for ourselves. I began making
and freezing convenient and wholesome meals that we could
easily heat and enjoy within minutes. The idea worked
beautifully, and soon friends and family began asking me to
provide the same home cooked, freezer friendly meals for
them also. Before I knew it, Savory Kitchen was born.
I love what I do, and what I do is use the finest, freshest
ingredients to make comforting, convenient and delicious
meals for people like you.
